To the Good People of Temiskaming and Beyond, from John Shymko
Some nights stay with you.
Long after the chords fade and the lights dim, you remember how it felt to sit in a room where music was made simply for the sake of sharing it.
You remember the hush before someone’s first note. The unexpected laughter. The moment a song you’d never heard felt as if it had been written just for you.
These are the evenings that remind us why we gather in the first place, not out of obligation or spectacle, but because something essential happens when we meet as neighbours and listen together. On Tuesday, July 8, we invite you to be part of one of those nights.
The Coffee House New Liskeard is more than an event. It’s a living reminder that talent doesn’t need a stadium or a spotlight. It needs only a willing audience and a place to begin.
It’s where voices find confidence. Where songs find their first applause. Where we find each other in the simplest, most human way possible: through music.
Tuesday, July 8, 2025
7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
St. Paul’s United Church
70 Wellington Street, New Liskeard
There are no tickets and no expectations. You’re welcome to perform or to listen. To contribute or to witness. To come alone or bring everyone you know.
If you’d like to sign up for a future evening, connect with Brian Matheson at bamfam@hotmail.ca. This summer, let’s gather for something real.
A song. A story. A moment you might remember for years to come. No cover. No judgment. Just music, and the possibility it creates.
We hope to see you there.
